Privacy Policy
Vatra: Bedtime Story Prompts (shown on the Home Screen as “VATRA”)
This policy explains what data the VATRA app processes and why. The app is made by Denys Vasyliuk, Essen, Germany, who is responsible for this data (the “controller”). Contact: hi@moonage.me.
In short
- Everything you enter is stored only on your device.
- No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics or crash-reporting tools.
- The stories work without an internet connection.
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google; we never receive payment details.
- You can erase all data in the app with one tap.
1. Data on your device
To weave names into the stories, the app stores what you enter yourself: your family’s names (including your children’s), their pronouns and name forms, your town and the places you chose, details of your “story world”, notes of the day, your own twists, the history of stories you told, your reminder time and settings.
This data is stored only in the app’s storage on your device. We never receive it, see it or share it.
2. Internet
Stories, family, the chronicle and reminders do not need the internet, and the app sends nothing for them.
The only feature that may use the network is looking up well-known places in your town, if it is available in your version of the app. When you enter your town, its name is sent to our server, which searches the open databases OpenStreetMap and Wikidata. The server only receives the town name and technical request data (such as your IP address, like any web server) and does not link it to names or any other data from the app. Results for a town may be cached without any personal data. Without a connection, the story simply uses the town name.
3. Reminders
The evening reminder is a local notification scheduled by your device. It needs your permission, and no server is involved. You can turn it off in the app or in your system settings.
4. Backups
In the settings you can save a backup to a file and restore from it later. The file is stored wherever you choose (for example in Files or Google Drive), and we have no access to it.
If system backups (iCloud or Google) are turned on for your device, the app’s data may be included in them. This is governed by Apple’s or Google’s terms and your settings.
5. Purchases
20 stories are free; one purchase through the App Store or Google Play unlocks the whole deck. Apple or Google process the payment entirely under their own terms — we receive neither payment details nor your name. The app only asks the store whether the purchase was made and remembers the answer on your device, so the deck stays unlocked offline.
6. Children
VATRA is an app for parents. The children’s names you enter stay on the device and are not shared with us or with third parties. The app has no ads.
7. Deleting your data
In the app’s settings, tap “Erase local data”. All data is also removed when you delete the app from your device. Backup files you saved yourself are yours to delete.
8. This website
vatra.moonage.me is served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, it processes technical request data (IP address, time, browser) to deliver the page and protect it from abuse. The site uses no cookies, analytics or ads. Your browser only stores the language you chose for the site.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and port your data, and to object to its processing. Since the app’s data is stored only on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app. For any question, write to hi@moonage.me. You can also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the data protection authority of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).

If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date at the top.
